Hole in the ground...

Preperations for the foundation has now been made!

Finally started!

This is the first post regarding Anne and Mads' new house.
We started in November 2010 by buying a very nice piece of land in Viby-J just outside Aarhus city center (one zip code away). in summer 2011 we started the progress of finding out what house we wanted to build. our friend, the amazing architect Mads Riis from "Tegnestuen 1 til 1" helped us a lot getting on the right track with our amazing house. We can not thank Mads enough for the expertise and kindness he has offered so far in our building process!!

It became clear that we wanted to build a low energy house with the option to generate our own electricity and after reviewing several ways of building low energy houses we decided to contact Bozel in summer 2012. Bozel's building concept uses a styropor EPS building material which has great low energy properties and is almost like building a LEGO house.

See www.magu.de or www.isobyg.dk for details.

As the construction industry has been on its knees after the financial crisis it has been very difficult to find a capable and reliable construction company. This has let to delays but we have now found a company that seem to be capable, reliable and keen on providing quality. This is Bech and Martens which are a local company.

The status right now is that the hole for the foundation is dug, and they are now ready to start making the foundation the coming week.
